Positive Carnival at Tatbiki
Alnowair’s 3 month campaign at Public Authority of Applied Education and Training (PAAET) was brought to an end with a 3 day carnival of positivity. The carnival which was organized for the girls’ wing of PAAET, was received with excitement and adulation by over 3000 students; leaving a positive impact, with the tools and benefits of a positive attitude.
The 3 days carnival was a mix of interactive stations where students participated in various activities that helped them feel more positive about themselves and also helped them realize that having a positive attitude is as easy as making a choice. The carnival featured numerous stations such as
Write a letter to yourself 10 years from now
Students were asked to write down a short letter to themselves 10 years in the future. The idea behind the station was to help the students set goals and imagine a more positive future & advice themselves in the future, thereby making them realize the importance of the present.
Let a Worry go Balloon
This station was to literally help students let go of their worries, tensions or bad thoughts. We asked the students to write down on a piece of paper their worries and tie the paper onto a balloon. As the students stepped out, they were instructed to let the balloons go. So we literally sent their worries into space.
Here was a station that saw many smiles. The students were educated about a quirky scientific fact that biting into a pencil tenses the same muscles we use to smile, hence tricking our mind to think we are happy.
Thank you wall
The thank you wall was the station where students shared what they were thankful for by writing down things they were grateful for and pasting them on a wall.
The students were encouraged to being part of a collective project, called the crafts station. Here they combined together to create a piece of art, using craft and recycled material. The booth was to promote a sense of togetherness and teamwork.
Take a picture with me
We distributed special oversized toys, to take pictures with for the students, to bring in them a sense of childhood and joy.
Another station where the students were encouraged to revisit their childhood, by playing a game of hopscotch.
Here the students were given lemons and encouraged to make lemonade, while they made the lemonade they were inspired to keep a positive attitude no matter the circumstances, a literal sense of the popular phrase “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”
We encouraged kindness in the carnival through the flower station, through a simple exercise. The students were encouraged to pick up flowers from the flower station and then had to pass the flower to another person in a stipulated amount of time. The flowers kept on circulating the carnival, with one student passing the flower to another.
Things You Love Station
This station instructed the students to share the objects they love by writing them on a piece of paper and sticking them on a heart shaped wall.
Symbol of Happiness
The students were encouraged to draw their symbol of happiness on pieces of paper and hang them on a string.
Here the students were encouraged to have conversations with strangers, and to help them out with topics of conversations a wheel was placed with various subjects which they could choose from.
